Inglewood Care Home

Activities

At Inglewood we promote independence and support residents in continuing to access and be a member of the local community. We encourage discussion and suggestions about activities, entertainment, and outings. We recognise that engagement with others is an important factor in our residents’ well-being.

We provide or procure stimulating individual and group activities and our activities programmes have been developed in consultation with our residents. We are incredibly lucky to have Lyme Park on the doorstep and the Peak District close by. We also enjoy coach trips to the local pubs often including entertainment or a quiz. Visiting entertainers are scheduled regularly, as is flower arranging and seated exercise, games, and art and crafts. Family and friends are always welcome to join residents to enjoy events at Inglewood. Our in-house hairdresser Karen is available 3-4 times per week as well as on request. The programme changes frequently, observing the seasons and the wishes of our residents, and may include:

  • Regular exercise to music
  • Sing-along sessions and dancing
  • Providing a variety of different entertainment such as pet therapy and activities which promote multi-sensory stimulation
  • Using modern technology to enjoy mental exercise via games, crosswords and wordsearches or to facilitate internet research and learning.
  • Group activities like Bingo, seated bowling, and basketball
  • Gardening with raised beds
  • Utilising the open space in the garden which is secure
  • Social events when the weather is good held on the veranda overlooking the garden, or in the covered pergola

Nutrition

Offering delicious and enjoyable food and drink has always been a priority at Inglewood. Our cooks produce fresh, nutritious meals with fresh, quality produce which are visually appealing and colourful. This encourages residents to maintain good nutrition and participate in the very social activity of enjoying food. The menus follow the seasons, and this is reflected in the choices that are on offer throughout the year.

Menus are discussed and decided in a bi-monthly meeting with residents to establish their suggestions to be added that to the seasonal menu. The produce is sourced locally wherever possible, our local butchers, Littlewoods in Marple, are committed to locally farmed, quality meat. Fruit and vegetables are from Cheshire Wholesale. We consistently achieve a 5 star rating from the Food Standards Agency.
